ASEAN Guidelines for Minimising the Risk of Transmission of Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies in Health Supplements
At-a-glance: This annex provides guidance on eliminating the risk of the ruminant derived materials used in health supplements transmitting TSE to humans
Background: International standards covering the risk management of TSE have already been established by authoritative bodies such as the World Health Organisation, the European Medicines Agency and the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE). As such, it was decided from the outset that the ASEAN guidelines on minimising the risk of TSE transmission should be consistent with these. Under this annex, self-declaration of compliance with ASEAN guidelines is required if ruminant-derived materials are used in health supplements.
